2007 was a year of historical dramas, especially the Yggdrasil of the American Western. It’s no surprise that a bold sci-fi picture was lost in the crowd. After a delayed U.S. release and poor box office performance, Alex Garland and Danny Boyle’s Sunshine became one of the most critically divisive movies of the year. (more…)

Meeting David Arquette

A young promotional assistant plugging away on her laptop greets us at the bus door shortly before we are to meet David Arquette. “You guys want some beers? I don’t know whose these are, but I’ll take the blame for it.” The inside of the vehicle is covered with mirrored walls and ceilings, giving the illusion of space. Computers, purses, and notebooks are littered all over the place. “I hope you guys aren’t kleptos,” the young woman says with a half-joking snicker. (more…)
